In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy.

Coffee: ‘Pick-me-up’ or ‘Calm-me-down’?

Three common homeopathic substances you may already be using.

Are you already using homeopathic substances? Yes, it's very likely! Just look at what homeopathy actually means. Homeo or homo means ‘the same’ as in homonym (same sound, different meaning) or homogenized (same consistency). ‘Pathy’ refers to the ‘suffering’ or the ‘disease’. Thus homeopathy roughly means ‘something similar to the suffering or the disease’. It has long been known that similar energies can’t exist in the same time and place, and homeopathy uses this principle to nullify energetic influences.

Most often I drink coffee because I feel slow and sluggish. I am just waking up or I am tired and coffee helps me reverse that. It acts as a nerve stimulant that wakes me up and brings me to a state of alertness. If I drink coffee late at night, I won’t be able to go to sleep easily, I won’t be able to shut off my thoughts, and I may even feel nervous and jittery. This is the normal ‘picture’ of the state of coffee and these are its typical effects; it’s how you can expect a normal, healthy person to react to coffee.

If, on the other hand, I am feeling anxious, stressed and tense or scattered throughout the day, I can use a little coffee to calm my body and make my mind settle. This is an application of homeopathic principles. I am using a substance, in this case coffee, to match my state of being telling every part of me to essentially cancel out my undesired energetic state. Hence that little afternoon coffee often calms me down from the build-up of stress from that day.

That’s exactly how the homeopathic principle works. Taking a substance that is similar in action to the actual pathology makes the effect disappear. Poof! Gone!

The beauty of homeopathic remedies is that you don’t have to take a large dose; a very, very small quantity is sufficient. Quantity is not important in homeopathy, but the quality is critical—the quality of the energy, the vibration.

Quantity of course is really important to your physical body. Think of this coffee example. What happens to your body if you take ten cups of coffee in a couple of hours? I am pretty sure that at the very least you will start to shake and your heart will start racing uncomfortably. Large quantities of most things are dangerous to your body.

If, however, you examine the homeopathic remedy called coffea (coffee in Latin) you will see a description that is similar to the normal ‘picture’ of the state of coffee. Because the remedy is energetic in nature, there will be none of the harmful physical effects as you would see if you were to drink many cups of coffee. So when you can’t sleep at night; when it feels like you’ve had too much coffee; your head is in a whirl; your thoughts are racing and your body won’t let you sleep, you can take a little coffee or the homeopathic remedy called coffea. Your excitement, tension and stress will vanish and you can drift off to sleep.

Next time you enjoy that coffee think of how your body is receiving it. Is it a stimulant to wake you up? Or is it a homeopathic remedy to calm you down?

Same thing for Ritalin, which is another stimulant. If I was to take the pill I would become fidgety and restless, but for a person who is fidgety and hyperactive the Ritalin works homeopathically to calm that person down.

The explosive nitroglycerine works on the same principle. If I were to place a little pill of nitroglycerine under my tongue it would cause my heart to palpitate and jump in my chest, my blood vessels to pulsate, and my blood pressure to rise until I have a headache. But for people who already suffer from the symptoms of a racing heart and severe palpitation the medical doctor may prescribe nitroglycerine. This acts homeopathically by calming down the heart and reducing tension in the blood vessels.

Here we have seen that coffee, Ritalin, and nitroglycerine are substances that we use commonly in our society that work on the homeopathic principle. In a homeopathic clinic we use these substances in such small dosages that only the energetic imprint remains. So when I have difficulty sleeping because my mind cannot shut off at night, I can take coffee as a homeopathic pill and, without chemicals or unwanted side-effects, calm my mind and have a good night’s sleep.
